Malcolm Post's first view of San Francisco came when, as a young naval officer, he crossed the Bay Bridge at sunset on his way into this magical city.
It was for him love at first sight; today, a few years and a sprinkling of grey hairs later, he's still in love with San Francisco. As a transplanted New Yorker he’s familiar with that great city, as well as many others among the world’s special places, but this is the one that won his heart.
“Much as I love my family and my own home,” enthuses Malcolm, “I can’t wait to go to work each morning, because my job, and my joy, is making people happy. Most of the time, I’m able to do just that. And there’s no greater satisfaction than receiving a card that says ‘We love our house!’
Before finding the real estate business he had a successful career in advertising and marketing, winning a number of awards along the way. He had parallel experience in financial management, and both of these fields provided immensely useful backgrounds for his career in real estate. Together with a total familiarity with the city and surrounding areas, they prepared him to be the consistent top producer he became.
He has kept a close watch on the changing face of the city, and is keenly aware of the secular trends affecting the character and desirability of its districts and neighborhoods. He has listed and sold properties from Telegraph Hill and the North Waterfront to West Portal, Daly City and San Mateo, from the Outer Richmond and Parkside to Visitacion Valley and Crocker Amazon, from Golden Gate Heights and the Mission to Pacific Heights, Presidio Heights, Cow Hollow, Russian Hill and southern Marin County.
He earned his B.A. from Yale and his M.A. from UC Berkeley, then served on active duty in the Navy. He was a tournament semi-finalist on Jeopardy and was a pipe major of a local bagpipe band. He is married and the father of two grown children.
Malcolm’s advice: never, never try to outguess the market; buy when you’re able and your circumstances call for it; sell when it’s right for you. If you try to catch the bottom, or the top, you’ll probably miss.
